The area of operation is centred on the town of Howick and with the rural areas of Hilton, Birnamwood, Merrivale, Karkloof, Currys Post, Mount West, Tweedie, Lions River, Dargle, Lidgetton, Balgowan, Nottingahm Road, Fort Nottingham, Lower Lotheni and Boston forming the sub-areas within the area of operation.

The total area of the uMngeni region is approximately 220 000 hectares.

The area of operation is made up of, dairy  farms, dairy processing, furniture manufacturing, timber related agribusiness, hospitality, agricultural smallholdings, commercial agriculture (crop and livestock) as well as large tracts of commercial timber plantations.
