Fire Risk Management for a Safer Environment & Community

BACKGROUND

The Lions River Fire Protection Association (LRFPA) is responsible for the co-ordination and management of rural fire activities undertaken within the boundaries of the uMngeni Municipality of Kwazulu Natal.

The LRFPA was established in 2005 and was formed to allow the participants to enhance effective fire prevention, protection, suppression and other fire control measures within the respective areas at risk from uncontrolled fires for the good of the local community in general.

The LRFPA is responsible for ensuring facilities and resources are available for the reduction, readiness, response and recovery from any forest or rural veld fire incident.

 

VISION

The Lions River Fire Protection Association will be a leader in support and innovation to our community and volunteers who will provide the highest standard of excellence in the protection of their land and the community from fires and other related emergencies.

Our leadership and management will equip our volunteers, fire crews and forestry fire services to be a leading and respected resource within the Midlands of Kwazulu Natal.
